Despite the fact that Greece’s water is considered one of the best in Europe, unfortunately its suitability is often questioned. The reason; Human activities, insufficient processing or failure to apply EU directives. The result: extremely important and dangerous problems for our health are caused.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Areas considered high risk zones for water quality are rural areas, areas with industrial units and those located near landfills. The cause is the constant presence of pesticides and fertilizers in the water table.<\/p>\n

So, since March 22nd is World Water Day, it’s a very good opportunity to check your tap water for safety and suitability in order to avoid unpleasant consequences.<\/p>\n

In what way?<\/strong><\/p>\n

You should first contact the municipal water supply company in your area, requesting in writing the local measurements that have been made. However, regardless of this, every citizen has the right to check the water they consume if they wish and to report any problems to the Health Directorates of the local Prefectures and the State General Chemistry.
\nBut what you should take care of if you decide to turn to private testing laboratories is to check whether they ensure the existence of an appropriate quality control system and whether they undergo frequent checks by the competent authorities.
\nEstimate the cost for a simple microbiological test between 25-35 euros and for a simple chemical test from 30-40 euros.
\nIn the event that the water is found to be unsuitable, the experts will be happy to give you more information on how you should deal with the problem.<\/p>\n
